Sandhurst New Homes has entered into a joint venture with BESB Ltd to redevelop the Crowstone School site in Westcliff. The intention is to feature a mix of apartments and houses. Planning will soon be submitted.

Sandhurst New Homes and BESB will also be redeveloping the former Old Vienna Restaurant site in Leigh on Sea. The intention is to build fifteen luxury apartments and planning permission is currently being sought. Demolition has started.

Contrary to incorrect reports, there are no plans to include a restaurant. ‘We believe the community will be better served by minimising noise nuisance, in particular the prior issue of late night revelers, in what is almost entirely a residential road,’ said Sandhurst New Homes Managing Director Brian Strickland.

Sandhurst has also just completed the construction and sale of 22 luxury apartments at The View, opposite Chalkwell Park. The development features penthouses, a large roof terrace with planted garden and far-reaching views across the park towards the Kent coast.

In Southend, Sandhurst is currently building what we believe is Southend’s first Build-to-Let apartments, which is being actively encouraged by the Government. Two apartment buildings are in construction, adjacent to each other. The Tide is on the former Shell petrol station site on the corner of Brighten Road and London Road and will feature two bedroom rental apartments. We expect completion on this site to occur at the end of 2018. We are working with letting agent Martin and Co and we warmly invite anyone interested in renting a new build apartment in this prime location to register their interest with Martin and Co, a stone’s throw from the building on London Road.

‘We have been keen to develop a build-to-let block for some time,’ said Brian Strickland. ‘We currently own around 150 rental properties and have been in the industry for almost thirty years. As such we understand the needs and concerns of tenants and how to make renting as easy as possible. We intend to offer at least two year assured short hold tenancies to provide extra peace of mind for tenants.’

The Tide will offer 27 two-bedroom apartments, available to rent.

Adjacent to The Tide is Coastline, which will feature 16, two bed apartments. Completion of this site is also expected to occur at the end of 2018.

Both The Tide and Coastline will also offer ground floor commercial office space.
